Your First Visit To Bridgeland Sport & Spine
When you arrive at the clinic please feel free to take advantage of the parking lot behind the building. Trucks and larger vehicles should take advantage of the 2 hour free parking available in front of the clinic on 8A street. The clinic entrance is the door off the parking lot. After entering the clinic you will be asked to fill out a multi-page questionnaire surrounding your current condition and overall health history. We must have the appropriate paperwork completed by your appointment time in order to ensure you receive the full attention your injury may require. If you are unable to complete the paperwork ahead of time via e-mail, please arrive 15 minutes early to your appointment.
Once the forms are completed, you will be shown to a consultation room where a therapist will review the forms with you and discuss your problem in detail. Based on the results of that discussion, and with your permission, we will perform a physical examination of the area in question. Although the clinic does provide athletic shorts and a treatment top where required, many clients are more comfortable bringing in their own shorts and tops to be used during the examination. Please be aware that physical examination standards require that the area to be examined is exposed to the skin. Be assured, however, that the utmost care is taken to assure your privacy throughout this process.
Depending on the findings from your physical examination, there are several possibilities as to the next step. In all cases, the therapist will share opinions and insights gained during the examination. When indicated, patients requiring x-rays will be sent to the radiology clinic across the street. There will be a discussion of treatment options and recommendations. There will be an opportunity for you to ask questions about those recommendations. In most cases where treatment is indicated, and, only with your permission, an initial treatment will be administered. In some cases, we prefer for clinical reasons to separate the initial examination from the initial treatment. In such cases the initial treatment session will be scheduled at your next availability.
If you have never had similar injuries or treatment in the past, the initial treatment session will tend to be less aggressive in nature. The main goal of this initial session will be to establish your response to the type of treatment being provided as well as achieve a small, short term improvement to your condition. If you are familiar with and have had prior experience with the recommended type of therapy then a full treatment will be administered. If treatment at our clinic is not recommended, there will be a discussion of further examination or treatment options outside of our facility.
